The most important part of every hike starts at the beginning. Before setting out on your journey, you must devise a plan of what you will do and where you will go. It is also important to gather all of your necessities and pack them in your backpack. Although those who are experienced might not need a map, it is always a good idea to keep one handy when navigating new terrain.
MYERS-BRIGGS PERSONALITY TEST
The MBTI, also known as the Myers Briggs Type Indicator test, determines how an individual perceives the world as well as the decisions they make in regard to their actions. The test places them into four categories: introversion/extraversion, sensing/intuition, thinking/feeling, and judging/perceiving. When I took the MBTI, I received ENFJ-A which means I am extraverted, intuitive, feeling, and judging. Someone who is an assertive antagonist displays tolerance, reliability, charm, altruism, and natural leadership. I believe the results I received portray me well because I am a leader at heart who can take point when need be, but I also have a soft side that few people get to see. I decided to include the MBTI because it is a good starting point for understanding who you are and how you can grow along your path.

VIA CHARACTER STRENGTHS SURVEYThe VIA Character Strengths Survey is another test that determines your personality, but in a slightly more specific way. The test asks personal questions about how you would respond to certain situations in order to identify your unique strengths as an individual. When I took the test, my top five character strengths were leadership, perspective, judgment, honesty, and love. I found this test to be very helpful when trying to perfect my strengths as well as find ways to improve the areas of my character that are not as strong. I decided to include the VIA Character Strengths Survey because it is a good secondary personality source that will help in understanding yourself better. In order to navigate through life successfully, you will need to understand who you are and how to adapt to uncomfortable circumstances.
